Who We Are
The Sapperton Press is a micro-poetry press publishing chapbooks and full-length collections of poetry by Canadian writers. (Chapbooks are short books of poetry containing 10-30 poems, whereas a full-length collection is typically longer).
We accept full-length manuscript queries year-round. For chapbook publications, we host the annual Pacific Northwest Chapbook Contest, where the winner receives a cash prize and a publication package with our press.
As a micro-press, we publish a select number of authors a year, so you know you’re getting our full attention! We offer our authors a small advance, royalties, and support with distribution and marketing. For authors based in British Columbia, we also host a book launch at a local independent bookstore (as we grow, we hope to offer this for other provinces as well). We do a limited first print run, with the potential for additional runs based on sales.
Our team has over a decade of experience in events, strong relationships with local booksellers, poets, and artists, and a passion for championing poetry. We’re excited to join the Canadian publishing scene and can’t wait to read your work!
Meet the Founder
Emily Molinari (she/her) is a queer Canadian poet and editor residing in British Columbia, Canada. Her work explores her lived experience as an artist with mental illness.
